Team

Supported by Dr Claire O’Neill and Dr Regard van Wyk, nurses Mary Maguire and Sarah May, and healthcare assistant Lorraine Corrigan, we strive to provide timely, holistic, evidence-based and efficient care for patients of the locality of all ages in the community setting .

Our skilled and dedicated administration staff Carmel Holton, Niamh Burke and caretaker Billy Kavanagh are essential to the smooth running of the practice and care of our patients. 

We have recently been joined by practice manager Esther Ashfield. 

Dr. Cliona Lewis

BSc (1997) MB BCh BAO LRCPI LRCSI (2002) MRCGP MSc Research (2017)

Dr Lewis took over the Healthcentre from July 1st 2021 following the retirement of Dr McNamara. 

Interests: All aspects of General Practice, particularly acute and emergency care, psychiatry, paediatrics and end of life care.

Dr. Claire O'Neill

MB BCh MAO (1990), MRCGP, DCH, Dip in Practical Dermatology (Cardiff) (2011),

Qualified from Trinity College Dublin 1990, completed Medical Scheme in St James’ Hospital, Dublin and GP training program in Kent, UK.
Worked in Paris and the UK before returning to Ireland in 1997.

Interests: Patient education, self empowerment in managing their own conditions, common dermatological conditions and dermoscopy in the GP setting.

Dr O’Neill works in the Healthcentre four days per week. 

Dr. Regard van Wyk

Dr van Wyk has recently joined the team having moved to Ireland from South Africa.  Dr Regard graduated from University of Pretoria in 2006 and spent some years in hospital on Internship program specialising in Paediatrics and Gynaecology.  He operated a very successful family practice in Pretoria for many years until relocating to Ireland with his family.  He is highly experienced and we are delighted to have him join our team.

He works four and a half days per week.

Nurse Mary Maguire

Mary qualified in General Nursing from the Mater Hospital and also Midwifery from Coombe Women’s Hospital and has worked in General Practice since 1993. She has certificates in family planning and has acquired a vast knowledge and experience in all aspects of nursing practice.

Special interests are Diabetic Care & Leg Ulcer Management.

Nurse Sarah May

Sarah qualified as RGN in 1993. She has been a full time Practice Nurse since 2009. Over that time she has developed her skills in many areas, including diabetes care and chronic disease management, women’s health, STI screening, travel and childhood vaccination. In 2017 Sarah went on to qualify as a Nurse Prescriber with RCSI, and in 2020 she completed a surgical skills course in DCU. She is a great addition to our team. 

Special Interests:  Diabetes, chronic disease management, women’s health, STI screening and family planning. 

 

Administration Team

Our skilled and dedicated administration staff Carmel Holton, Niamh Burke, and Lorraine Corrigan are essential to the running of the practice and care of our patients. All of our receptionists expertly look after our patients’ queries and appointment requests by phone and at the reception desk. They provide administrative and secretarial support to the doctors, liaising with healthcare professionals, hospitals, HSE PCRS services to ensure the efficient running of our Practice for both patients and doctors.

Billy Kavanagh is our caretaker and a very important member of the practice team.
